I am Mirela, a certified YogaBirth pregnancy yoga instructor and a Yoga Alliance Hatha yoga teacher. My journey with yoga and meditation began in my twenties, serving as a path for self-discovery and grounding myself amidst the whirlwind of my career in the humanitarian and development sector. For over a decade, I have been committed to creating spaces where women can be heard and responding to women’s needs, offering support, and amplifying their voices.

When I became pregnant with my daughter, I quickly realised I was going to need a lot of help. What I knew about birth, pregnancy and motherhood was a patchwork of media images, stories from my sister and friends who were mums, and distant memories from my own upbringing. It all felt daunting, scary, and isolating.

Approaching labour and birth with yoga, meditation, and birth education classes helped me build a deep connection with my baby and my changing, growing, and sometimes aching body. These practices also gave me a safe space to ask endless questions. Week by week, as I approached labour, I grew mentally stronger, calmer, and more confident in my ability to birth my baby. Even as I navigated my own transition into motherhood, I knew I wanted to offer this experience to other women.

In my classes, I create a safe haven where you can move in a way that feels right for your body and feel at ease expressing what's on your mind—without ever feeling like you’re taking up too much space. This is a space to feel whatever pregnancy brings up for you, while building the strength, knowledge, and resilience to birth your baby and embrace your journey into motherhood.

My pregnancy yoga classes are infused with birth education, deep relaxation, and time to connect with others. In the first 30 minutes, we sit in a circle with other expectant mothers, where we listen, share, and find answers together. Afterwards, we practice nourishing yoga, blending gentle movements that prepare your body for birth with breathing techniques and meditation.
