Description
Hi, I’m Ashleigh! I’m a midwife and yoga teacher practising in West London.
I grew up as the eldest of five children in Bradford, West Yorkshire. My mother, grandmother and aunties inspired my career into midwifery with their birth stories. I heard stories of breech birth, home birth, twin birth, hospital birth, epidurals, breastfeeding; stories from pregnancy and postpartum were shared in a way that felt sacred, magical, funny, scary and very real. I wanted to be a part of something so important. Therefore, since qualifying as a midwife in 2018, I have been especially focused on helping women, their partners and families to feel informed and empowered about their care and their story.
While travelling abroad, I completed my first yoga teacher training course in 2023 in Bali which was focused on vinyasa and ashtanga styles. I discovered YogaBirth in 2024 and completed the Scaravelli-inspired pregnancy yoga teacher training course in 2026.
I understand pregnancy to be a dynamic journey, where energetic, physical and emotional changes are happening all the time. Yoga can be a great way to link the mind and the body, but what makes YogaBirth classes unique is the way that the postures and flows are made accessible whatever your gestation. It is also preparation for the physiological positions you may take into your labour and birth. Breathing techniques are safely taught to help you to connect with yourself and your baby, and to prepare you for breathing through surges, through good and challenging moments, and through the birth of your baby. There is a sense of community and the opportunity for sharing experiences and knowledge with each other, which women and birthing people need.
Please reach out if you have any questions. I look forward to meeting you.
