Sophia was drawn towards the Yogabirth teacher training because of the its unique and balanced format of birth education and yoga taught by the UK’s pioneers in birth choices and womens rights, midwives, doulas and yoga teachers.
Her YogaBirth class offers time to relax, breathe, connect with your baby and enhance your pregnancy. You will enjoy healthy, safe postures that prepares you in mind and body for childbirth. You will learn about posture, optimal fetal positioning, as well as labour techniques, including ‘hypnobreathing’ a method devised by YogaBirth co-founder Lolly Stirk.
Classes are followed by an (optional) tea and talk, which is a birth related chat and insightful women to women discussion. It is a time for building confidence and encouraging one another with the freedom to vocalise and acknowledge fears or anxieties, hopes and dreams relating to pregnancy. It can also be a time of sharing relevant, current information to enable women to make their own informed choices.
Sophia has worked as a birth and postnatal doula for many years which is a passion and a job. Coming along side and supporting women during their transition into motherhood and beyond is second nature to her. As a mother to 5 children she has experienced both hospital and home births. She has supported many women on their birth journey’s. She takes great pleasure in sharing the wisdom and passing on what she has learnt along the way.
